Steak Fries series (2007-2008) examines Turkish food culture and the forms it has taken over the past years. It is about the ironies that appear as a result of the exchanges that have been occurring between the local fast food culture and the entrance of the global food chains to the Turkish market. This specific intermingling of these two food streams has recently flourished into an even more hyped “chic” Café culture and multinational coffee shop chains like Starbucks. The changing food packaging, presentation, types of hygienic materials in toilets of restaurants and cafés are also examined in the series.
