Air Conditioners series (2009-2010) is a collection of photographs taken by using a simple analog camera and dated color slides. As a visual investigation on air-conditioners, with their window-units covering the facades of buildings, this series look into how they relate to the architecture and environment, compassing issues around sustainability, recycling and how urban dwellers reconfigure their sites according to their needs or preferences. Meanwhile, there is also a glance into the lives that start and end in these buildings, through this sequence of boxes, frames, and odd protrusions that pop-out of so many facades. The process of alienation at stake with the over-accumulation of these window-units in the city, turns into a visual experience where an aesthetics of repetition is developed.
